NB:
Mozambique, as a Member State affiliated with the Southern African Development Community (SADC), decided to negotiate the Economic Partnership Agreement in the SADC/APE configuration, together with the five States, namely: South Africa, Botswana, Namibia, Eswatini and Lesotho.
THE APE:
(a) is a legal instrument that regulates commercial relations between the countries of the African Caribbean and Pacific Group (ACP) and the European Union, ratified by Mozambique, through Resolution Nr. 12/2017 of 16 October, in force on February 4, 2018 for Category A products, and January 2019 for Category B products.
(b) The Agreement establishes a new economic cooperation regime with the European Union (EU), allowing Mozambique to maximize preferential treatment, export to the European market free of quotas and customs duties.
(c) APE Key Lines:
(i) Access to the goods market;
(ii) Trade-related matters (Intellectual Property, Competition, Geographical Indications, Public Procurement);
(iii) Flexible Rules of Origin;
(iv) General and Specific Safeguards Measures; It is
(v) Service Commerce.
