Export procedures can be complex and often product-specific. For information on the requirements for a specific product, the commodity search function  can be used. Below is an overview of a standard export process, and a list of the more common export measures.

Registration as an exporter of medication for human use

This measure relates to the prior registration of traders who wish to export medications for human use.


Registration as an exporter of medication for veterinary use

This measure relates to the prior registration of traders who wish to export medications for veterinary use.


Registration as an exporter of agrochemicals

This measure relates to the prior registration of traders who wish to export agrochemicals.


Phytosanitary certificate for plants, vegetables and products of vegetable origin

This measure consists in obtaining a phytosanitary certificate that allows the exporter to guarantee that the product to be exported is in compliance with the requirements of the destination country.


Phytosanitary certificate for animals, meat and products of animal origin

This measure consists in obtaining a sanitary certificate that allows the exporter to guarantee that the product to be exported is in compliance with the requirements of the destination country.


Phytosanitary certificate for fish, seafood and products of aquatic origin

This measure consists in obtaining a sanitary certificate that allows the exporter to guarantee that the product to be exported is in compliance with the requirements of the destination country.


Phytosanitary inspection

This measure consists in the inspection by officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MASA) of the product to be exported, in order to allow a phytosanitary certificate to be issued, which would allow the exporter to guarantee that the product to export is in compliance with the requirements of the destination country.


Inspection of Animals and animal products

This measure consists in the inspection by officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MASA) of the product to be exported, in order to allow a sanitary certificate to be issued, which would allow the exporter to guarantee that the product to export is in compliance with the requirements of the destination country.


Inspection of Seafood and Aquatic products

This measure consists in the inspection by officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MASA) of the product to be exported, in order to allow a sanitary certificate to be issued, which would allow the exporter to guarantee that the product to export is in compliance with the requirements of the destination country.


Export license for medication

This measure consists in obtaining an export license for the export of medication.


Export license for veterinary medication

This measure consists in obtaining an export license for the export of Veterinary medication.


Export license for agrochemicals

This measure consists in obtaining an export license for the export of agrochemicals.


Inspection of medication for export

This measure consists in the inspection by officials of the Ministry of Health (MISAU) of the product to be exported.


Inspection of veterinary medication for export

This measure consists in the inspection by officials of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (MASA) of the product to be exported. Esta medida consiste na inspecção pelos oficiais de MASA do produto a ser exportado.


Inspection of agrochemicals for export

Customs formalities - by land

This measure consists in the submission, by the customs broker, of the customs declaration and supporting documents, to the single electronic window, and the customs authorities check the documents in relation to the value declared and respective tariff positions. The customs official may accept or reject the declaration based on information provided by the trader.

This measure consists in the submission, by the customs broker, of the customs declaration and supporting documents, to the single electronic window, and the customs authorities check the documents in relation to the value declared and respective tariff positions. Customs formalities - by air

This measure consists in the submission, by the customs broker, of the customs declaration and supporting documents, to the single electronic window, and the customs authorities check the documents in relation to the value declared and respective tariff positions. The customs official may accept or reject the declaration based on information provided by the trader.

This measure consists in the submission, by the customs broker, of the customs declaration and supporting documents, to the single electronic window, and the customs authorities check the documents in relation to the value declared and respective tariff positions. Certificate of origin

This measure consists in the filling out, by the exporter, and validation by customs, of the certificate of origin, in order to confirm that the product to be exported is in compliance with the rules of origin of SADC, in order to benefit from exemption of duties in the destination country (as long as this is a country belonging to SADC).
